Maryknoll Essay Contest Winner - Grace Wilson (pdf)
Saint James School is very proud to announce that one of our eighth-grade students, Grace Wilson, is the first place winner of a Maryknoll sponsored essay contest. The 2015 essay theme, “Mission of Mercy,”asked students to share real-life inspirational stories about mercy. Students also were asked to convey the lessons learned about the need for mercy in the world. Pope Francis has declared 2016 a Jubilee Year of Mercy. The contest received close to 6,500 entries from students who competed in two divisions(grades six to eight and grades nine to 12), and the first place entry received a $1000 cash award. Grace’s essay Someone Special Needs You, was compassionately written about her sister Ryan’s experience while on an internship in Thailand and how it impacted and then inspired Grace to perform her own act of mercy right here in New Jersey.

We congratulate Grace on her award winning compassionate essay but more importantly we applaud her on teaching us the need for mercy in our world today and incorporating her faith in everyday life.
