The Pre-K class is a wonderful opportunity for children who need more time to transition to full-day kindergarten as well as provide children with a challenging and exciting program. Children, who are young chronologically or emotionally, usually benefit from an additional year before formal schooling. Extra time helps them develop confidence, independence, and enthusiasm for school - necessary tools for kindergarten success.

The curriculum includes a balance of traditional early childhood activities as well as reading and math readiness activities appropriate for older fours and young five year olds. Education at Saint James Preschool is Christ-centered. For that reason, our preschool program has been developed to create an environment where preschool children learn that they have a special place in God's plan.

  The preschool staff collaborates with the kindergarten and first grade teachers in establishing assessment guidelines for promotion as well as to establish a strong, developmentally appropriate curriculum that flows from preschool into our kindergarten program.

Classes meet five days a week, with class size limited. Children turning 5 years old by December 31 should have completed a four-year old program.

Class includes one teacher and a teacher’s aide.
