What is the Polar Plunge?
The Polar Plunge is an annual event sponsored by the Ancient Order of Hibernians of Monmouth County, a Catholic men’s organization.  The purpose of the event is to raise money for Catholic schools. This year is the 17th annual Polar Plunge event and there will be over 19 Catholic schools and 1000 participants.

Who is the AOH?
The Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) was founded in 1836 in New York City.  AOH is a Catholic men's organization dedicated to unity, charity, and friendship.  The Monmouth County Division 2 was founded in 1990.  In addition to the Polar Plunge for Catholic schools, the division is involved in many charitable events including Project Paul and the Wounded Warriors event.

When and where is the Polar Plunge?
The Polar Plunge will be held on Sunday, February 5th, 2023, at 12:30pm, in Sea Bright, NJ, at the Municipal Beach.

How does the event work?
The participating schools are responsible for raising their own money and 100% of all money raised goes back to the individual schools.  All initial fees and donation checks must be made out to Saint James Elementary School .

The participants (“plungers”) of the event raise pledge money in order to participate, similarly to how other fundraising walks or runs obtain pledges.  Participants need to raise a minimum of $50 from family and friends and then they have the pleasure of jumping into the ocean on a cold February Sunday (they can also pay for the pleasure out of their own pocket!).

If you do not want to dive into the ocean yourself, students, families and friends can pledge money to sponsor someone else or just make a donation to Saint James Elementary School.

How do we sign up and register?
Download the registration/donation form  for each plunger or to sponsor a plunger, and return to the SJES Business Office.  A registration form must be completed for each plunger.

Who do we contact if we have questions?
Feel free to contact the following individuals with any questions:

Does the money I raise go toward my PTA committment?
